Almonaster la Real can be found at the base of St. Christopher mountain, the highest in the province of Huelva at 912 metres.

Its name comes from the Arabic term Almunia and magnificently conserved mosque of caliph times dates from this era, Xc. It was them to come under Christian power after the wars of Fernando III, the Saint.

The Trinity chapel from the XVIIIc and the hermitages of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, with several capitals and an altar from the first century A.D., Our Lady of Humility and Patience, St. Sebastian (XVIIc), St. Brigid and St. Eulalia, XIVc, sitting on a Roman funeral turret from the first century and with frescos from the late gothic period. the aechaelogical and artistic remains which testify the age of the village are abundants.
